MadHat, Inc. is a a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization, registered as such in the State of North Carolina. Its mission is to encourage innovative literature and collaborations among and between writers, visual artists, composers, and film-makers. MadHat was founded by Carol Novack (RIP 1948 – 2011).

MadHat, Inc’s current projects include:

Mad Hatters’ Review, a multi-media online journal, first published by Ms. Novack in 2005, with the assistance of Managing Editor Alla Michelle Watson and our wonderful webmaestress Shirley Harshenin. The journal is currently an annual, issuing every winter. Please see its masthead for a list of current editors.

MadHat Press, the brain-child of Carol and Marc Vincenz, will publish and launch six new titles this year. Please keep an eye out for the new MadHat Press website.

MadHat’s Little Mountain Retreat, overlooking The Blue Ridge Highway, fewer than 10 minutes’ drive from the gorgeous, artsy city of Asheville, North Carolina. Details via the Retreat tab above.

The Mad Hatters’ Review Blog features selected fictions and poetics submitted for publication. Hosted by Marc Vincenz and Susan Lewis, the Blog features selected work and commentary about contributors, mini interviews, and other items of interest, including Review and contributors’ news and events. MadHat’s Poetry, Prose & Anything Goes Reading/Performance Series.
Formerly, the series, sub nom Mad Hatters’ Review, was curated for several years by Carol at The KGB Bar in New York City. Its present, physical hub is in Asheville, NC. Related readings have been and will be held in other locations. Access upcoming events via the tab Events; the tab will take you directly to the News and Events page of The Mad Hatters’ Review Blog.

MadHat, Inc. is, at this time, solely funded by donations and contest fees. Donations are tax-deductible for US residents and may be made, via Paypal, to madhatarts@gmail.com. All enquiries are welcome, and we welcome sponsors who share our vision.
